The First Song Solstice Ever Is Here!

And So It Begins...

Hopefully by winter solstice there will be a hand drawn logo.

Welcome to the sneak attack surprise that is the debut installment of the Song Solstice series!

A Song Solstice shall feature a song a day for the entire month a solstice is in, and this year's Summer Solstice happens this month, June 2024. I did my best to choose songs I have in my collection and are also available on Spotify (except for one song that I couldn't leave off because it deserves more love). It took me until the end of May to decide that. *facepalm*

Thanks to my unofficially diagnosed ADHD (I have an informal confirmation from a psychiatrist that I likely have it, just need to find someone to evaluate me), it took me ages to get the song list set and start writing the blurbs for them, so it's starting a bit late. (Biiiiiig surprise there...) Days past shall be backdated (as this one is because it all has to be in the correct order, mmm'kay?) Stay Tuned, Folks!!

Inside The Fog - Spring 2024

Inside The Fog

Spring 2024

Hello, folks. Long time no see...

Sorry I've been incredibly MIA for so damn long now. Seems that I just go into isolation mode then I feel overwhelmed and things are just too heavy and hard to manage emotionally and mentally. Back in 2020 I dropped off in late summer and didn't come back until late spring 2021, and then I dropped off again in the fall and came back in early 2022. Here we are in the second quarter of 2024 and I'm trying like hell to pull myself out of the isolation fog and not lose myself for so long again. As for now, I just have little to no capacity to be social or for much of anything at all really, which means I will likely be MIA until I can find it again. I have no idea how long that will be. I'm sorry.

I'm going to try to let you inside the fog I am in for a moment. Bring a blanket.

Happy Friday! [18AUG2023]

 Hello, folks!!

I've been semi-obsessively listening to Rush lately, reveling in the albums I love, revisiting albums I don't know as well, and acquainting myself with albums I never got around to hearing for some reason.

Listening to Test For Echo for the first time, and "Driven" made me stop working on my stuff and check the lyrics. It actually fits for where I am right now, or, at least, where I'm heading. So many Rush songs that resonate lyrically... Good gawd, do I miss Neil...

Enjoy!

Happy (Rainy) Monday

It's currently Monday in Midwestern USA and it's raining where I am, thus I have the perfect song for the moment. I posted a live BBC performance of it in here some years back, so I thought I'd post the studio version this time.

I hope your Monday is/was sunnier than mine.
If not, just let Karen Carpenter's voice make it all better.

Earworms - 9th-11th August 2023

There's something beautiful inside my head...

cover for the "Something Beautiful" single, edited by aquadonia

Sometimes songs you know end up playing over and over in your head, often times just certain lines or just the chorus. These are called "earworms". This week, my main earworm has been the wonderful "Something Beautiful" by Tracy Bonham (you know, the woman who that did the song "Mother, Mother" back in the 90s).  I'd like to share it with you, if you don't mind. ;-)
